Drug Offences

The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act outlines a long list of substances no one shall have in their possession, including marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, oxycodone, heroin and many more. Certain quantities of these drugs will result in a charge for drug trafficking without any witnesses for such trafficking. When charged with these types of offences, your jeopardy is extremely high. The Crown may seek penalties ranging from fines to many years in jail. Often, the police conduct surveillance and elaborate operations aimed at gathering as much evidence as possible. This is a highly complex area of law. Many defences may be available to Accused persons charged with drug offences. Michelle works hard to find innovative ways to defend her client's freedom and advocate for their interests at trial.

Often, a person charged with drug offences will have the onus of demonstrating to a Judge or Justice why they should be released into the community while they wait for their trial. The Crown will routinely seek very strict release conditions and high cash deposits upon release. it is important to have an experienced bail lawyer conduct your file from the beginning so you can live a normal life while your case is being prepared for trial.
